Free Crochet Pattern Tutorial – Chunky Crochet Cowl / Neck Warmer

This free crochet pattern tutorial on how to crochet a chunky crochet cowl / neck warmer is quick, easy and fun! In the Winter there are two places I don’t like to feel the cold, my hands and my neck! Sometimes I’ll ignore how my hands feel while complaining, but my neck is a “do not chill” zone. This chunky crochet cowl was born to fix that problem.

It’s an easy pattern that anyone can do in one sitting giving super comfy results. The nice part is that the yarn can be whatever color you choose. I’ve mostly made it in one color, but I love the multicolored version showcased in the video. So, here’s the pattern and the companion video is below!

Chunky Crochet Cowl / Neck Warmer

Materials:

  • 1 Ball Cozy Wool Chunky Yarn
  • Size N hook
  • Tapestry Needle

Written stitch directions:

Chain 62
Join end of chain to beginning of chain with sl st, careful not to twist, creating a circle.

Row 1: ch 2, dc in each ch around, ending sl st in top of turning ch
Row 2: ch 2, *dc in bl of first st, dc in fl of next st, rep from * around ending sl st in top of turning ch

Rep row 2 for pattern

Note: Make sure to alternate starting stitch. If 1st row started with dc in bl, start next row with dc in fl for texture

bl = back loop
fl = front loop

When you get close to the end of your skein, end the row, bind off and weave in yarn ends.

Enjoy wearing!

I would love to hear what you think. Is this a pattern that you’ll try? Let me know in the comments below!
