This free crochet pattern tutorial on how to crochet a chunky crochet cowl / neck warmer is quick, easy and fun! In the Winter there are two places I don’t like to feel the cold, my hands and my neck! Sometimes I’ll ignore how my hands feel while complaining, but my neck is a “do not chill” zone. This chunky crochet cowl was born to fix that problem.
It’s an easy pattern that anyone can do in one sitting giving super comfy results. The nice part is that the yarn can be whatever color you choose. I’ve mostly made it in one color, but I love the multicolored version showcased in the video. So, here’s the pattern and the companion video is below!
Chunky Crochet Cowl / Neck Warmer
Materials (affiliate links below):
- 1 Ball Cozy Wool Chunky Yarn
- Size N hook
- Tapestry Needle
Written stitch directions:
Join end of chain to beginning of chain with sl st, careful not to twist, creating a circle.
Row 1: ch 2, dc in each ch around, ending sl st in top of turning ch
Row 2: ch 2, *dc in bl of first st, dc in fl of next st, rep from * around ending sl st in top of turning ch
Rep row 2 for pattern
Note: Make sure to alternate starting stitch. If 1st row started with dc in bl, start next row with dc in fl for texture
bl = back loop
fl = front loop
When you get close to the end of your skein, end the row, bind off and weave in yarn ends.
